Have these points checked when you try to understand the word of God!
- Who is the writer and what was his role/office at the time?
- Dispensation in which it was addressed.
- Is the verse being addressed to the Jew?
- To whom it was addressed?
- Was the Gentile church active at that time?
- Was the New Testament established?
- Was the blood of Christ shed?
- Was the Holy Ghost given to every believer?
- Know that starting from the four gospels until the 10th chapter of the book of Acts, the Gentiles weren’t grafted in. With the induction of Cornelius and his family, grafting began.
- In the gospels, Christ the testator is yet alive – Heb 9:16,17.
- Christ, in the gospels was under the law: the law is active and the temple yet stands – Rom 7:1-4
- We know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law (Romans 3:19).
- Sin still held power, ergo death reigned – as the blood was not yet shed – for without the shedding of blood is no remission (Hebrews 9:22).
- Before the death of Christ (gospels), Satan, as he wasn’t defeated yet wielded tremendous power.
- Holy Spirit was with them, but not in every believer – John 14:17/7:39.
- The way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing Hebrews 9:8.
- Baptism of John (repentance) was in force – Acts 13:24/18:25/19:3 – (the gospel of Peace, to Israel – Acts 10:36/13:46/3:14,15/ Eph 6:15 – Gospel of grace, to the rest of the world/the gospel of the uncircumcision – Acts 20:24/Gal 2:7.
- The church is not mentioned again after Revelation Chapter 4:1 until she returns to earth as the Bride of Christ in Revelation 19.
- The last days commenced from the day of Pentecost – Acts 2:16,17
- Thou art no more a servant, but a son (Galatians 4:7)
- Gospels/Acts/Epistles communicates:
-
-
- Present tense (at that time)
- Past tense (what prophets spoke)
- Present future tense (Temple destruction)
- Future tense (Kingdom, Rapture, Imputed Righteousness, etc.…)
- The Gospels depict “Christ” as he lives, speaks, and moves among mankind.
- Acts is where “Christ” is preached, published, and proclaimed.
- The Epistles are written about, clarified, and exalted “Christ.”
-
- Psalm 91 – “Under the shadow” Old Testament. In the New Testament dispensation, we are neither under the shadow of death nor are under the shadow of Almighty. The people which sat in darkness saw a great light, and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up (Matthew 4:16). I know Psalms 91 is one of our favorites, but the truth is – they (Israel) abode under the shadow of Almighty. But we, the body of Christ comes under the precious blood of Jesus Christ – the church of God, which God hath purchased with His own blood (Acts 20:28). God hath quickened us together with Christ and raised us up together with him, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Eph 2:6). And we are in Christ and Christ in us. In whom ye also are built together for a habitation of God through the Spirit (Ephesians 2:22).
Shadow!
- Christ fulfilled the Beatitudes – Matthe 6:9-13.
- Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name (He hallowed his name – John 12:28).
- Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven (His kingdom had come and His will was done, for which the Son of God came to do – John 5:30/Heb 10:9/Luke 11:20/Rom 14:17).
- Give us this day our daily bread (John 6:50,51).
- And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors (Grace is God’s goodness aimed at human debt and depravity. God imputes merit where none previously existed and proclaims no debt where one previously existed, all via His mercy. A tremendous debt that we will never be able to repay Our debt is paid via redemption. The debt and penalty of our sins – for Jesus Christ has become our Ransom – He hath ransomed us from death, the grave, from the power of sin, from the evil world, that we might live unto God and become the righteousness of God in Christ – by shedding his blood he redeemed us – 1Pet 1:18,19/Eph 1:7).
- “Finished!” Jesus exclaimed just before he died. Jesus didn’t just say that his suffering was over. In its original tongue, the word meant “to close out an account”: “canceled,” “paid in full,” “nothing left to pay”—”finished!” Jesus paid the entire debt of sin.
- And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil (Christ spoiled principalities and powers/destroyed him that had the power of death, that is, the devil – Col 2:15/Heb 2:14 – He destroyed the works of the devil and delivered us from sin, death, saved us from this present evil world and from the power of darkness – Col 2:15/Heb 2:17,18/2Pet 2:9/James 1:12/ Luke 11:4/1John 3:8/5:18/Gal 1:4/Col 1:13):
- For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
- Darkness does not mean “evil” but “ignorance”.
-
As for me and my house we will SERVE the Lord – Joshua 24:15 – the Old testament saints served the Lord.
You serve a master, you serve a Lord, you serve the clients etc…
But can a born of God continue to say that?
Unlike the holy Apostles of the lamb served Christ, who were doulos (bond-slaves – Rom 1:1/1Cor 4:8-13) for a special purpose—for the word of God, we could be called as “diakonos” or ministers of Christ (for ye serve the Lord Christ – Col 3:24 – serve means, douleuo, which is again “to be a slave” “be in bondage” – but we are not considered a slave but free – what is Christ made up of? 1Cor 12:12). They were called in the Lord, to be a servant (bond slave)(1 Cor 7:22) – And the servant abides not in the house for ever: but the Son abides ever (John 8:35)
On the other hand, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free (Gal 4:31) – In Christ, there is neither bond nor free for ye are all one in Christ Jesus (Gal 3:28). But keep in mind that, the heir, as long as he is a child, differs nothing from a servant (Gal 4:1)- for he is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe, yet carnal (Heb 5:13/1Cor 3:1-3) – We now serve God (latreuo – worship, do service) with our spirit in the gospel of his Son (Romans 1:9) – and with the mind I myself serve (douleuo) the law of God (Rom 7:25) – present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service (Rom 12:1).
Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds – Paul says, in time past was unprofitable (Philemon 1:11) – but having matured in sprit – thou shouldest receive him not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved (Philemon 10-16)
Having begotten by God – James 1:18/1John 5:1 – and thus become a part of the household of God – Eph 2:19 – heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ – Rom 8:17 – we are laborers together with God – 1Cor 3:9. That’s the state of a regenerate soul! Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ (Gal 4:7). We are one in spirit with Christ – 1 Cor 6:17
- The Great Tribulation is: Jacob’s Trouble and Judgment of the world – Jeremiah 30:7/1Cor 11:32/Matt 24:21
- Abraham had statutes, commands, and laws – Exodus 18 – Proof: Moses already began to apply the statutes and the law and the judgments God has given them before they get to Mount Sinai (before he receives 10 commandments). Otherwise, how would Cain and Abel know to offer sacrifice? Noah was told to take 7 of every clean animal (concept of Leviticus). So they had the knowledge of it even before the law was established (God’s direct intervention and guidance).
- The tribulation of the Church is the righteous judgment of God – 2Thess 1:4,5/1Pet 4:17/Heb 12:5-11/1Pet 4:1,2
- The book of Job is older in its written form than the book of Genesis. But Genesis has older content (earlier period of time).
- Christendom: Matthew 13 – Knowledge about Christendom will remove any confusion about Christianity. The Christendom, which Matthew 13 portrays is a combination of all the denominations, and it works as the outer shell of the kernel. The kernel is the body of Christ, the elect of God. The elect of God is protected by various elements. It consists of “laborers (hirelings), tares (false ministers, false doctrines), sons (heirs of God), angels (ministering spirits), 7 Spirits of God, even the democratic government’s functions to cocoon this living organism.
- Examine yourselves! 2 Cor 13:5
- Sons and daughters go through discipline– they are led by the Spirit of God – Rom 8:14,17/Heb 12:5-11. The sons of God are born of God, justified, and sanctified. They have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts – Gal 5:24
- Hirelings work for wages – he cares not for the sheep – John 10:12,13 – Laborers get most of the work done and receive their wages. So don’t be vexed by the thought that God is not using you. In a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and of earth and some to honor and some to dishonor – 2Tim 2:20.
- Propitiation (God’s wrath appeased by the death of His Son),
- Redemption (Redemption mean paying a ransom to free a captive),
- Justification (the only way a guilty person can be declared innocent),
- The Israelites/Jews (referred to as God’s people),
- The Gentiles (could be speaking of the heathen, or the Gentile believer – a person who is not Jewish),
- (the) Circumcision – cutting of the foreskin or referring to a Jew
- The Church (the Bride of Christ – that one new man – Eph 2),
- The dry land/ground (which again refers to Israel)
- The remnant (either the residue of Jacob or the church)
- The residue of people – the remnant of Israel
- Sheep and goats – nations that are anti-semitic (hostile to or prejudiced against Jews) are the goat nations – Matt 25:32 Sheep nations: Philo-Semitism (Judeophilia) is an interest in, respect for and an appreciation of Jewish people.
- Wheat and Tares – Children of the kingdom and the children of the devil/wicked one – Matt 13:38.
- The woman who first seduced the members of the Church into apostasy is “that woman Jezebel,” (which typifies a sect, a religious order) who set aside the true prophets of God with her falsities, led the Church into spiritual adultery. Their Church still was active in faith and love but was caught in the web of an adulteress, under her power (Rev 2:24). The woman Jezebel typifies a whoring church, which hath a form of godliness but that denies its power, which is Christ and the fruit of His Spirit. It is not only inequitable to call a female/girl “jezebel” but also unsound teaching.
-
For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man (Romans 7:2,3)- the woman is Israel and the husband was “the law” –Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God (Romans 7:4)
- “Raise the dead” also means “the spiritually dead” being quickened back to life. For as the Father raises up the dead, and quickens them; even so the Son quickens whom he will (John 5:21) – he that believes in Jesus Christ, though he were dead, yet shall he live (John 11:25).
- “Communion OF the Holy Ghost” – 2 Corinthians 13:14 – don’t mistake it for communion WITH the Holy Ghost per se – it then means, we have been all made to drink into one Spirit – 1 Cor 12:13; maintain the unity of the Spirit – Eph 4:3,4; For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body –1 Cor 12:13; that there should be no schism in the body (the unifying agent) – 1Cor 12:25. AND the Spirit says, truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ (1 John 1:3).
- “by whose stripes ye were healed” (1 Peter 2:24) – this has nothing to do with the physical healing of a believer – Regarding Israel: from the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment (Isaiah 1:6) – There is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayest be bound up: thou hast no healing medicines (Jeremiah 30:13) –If my people (Israel), which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14) Because Jesus Christ paid the price for the nation of Israel – John 11:50/18:14/Matt 15:24/Heb 8:8,10/Micah 5:7 – the remnant of Israel shall be redeemed – Zechariah 12:10 – Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) (Acts 2:36)
- In the gospels (before the death of Christ), Satan held power—he wasn’t a defeated foe yet; sin had dominion—it wasn’t condemned yet; the Holy Ghost, though He was with them, He did not dwell in the believers; the New Testament was not founded yet as the testator was still alive, etc…
The spirit of fear: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7)—This has nothing to do with the natural fears that is inherent in all living beings. This is about approaching God—as children, heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17)—as the household of God (Ephesians 2:19)—let us come boldly to the throne. For God, hath RECONCILED us to Himself by Jesus Christ (2 Cor 5:18). Being justified by faith* (justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Whom God hath set forth to be a PROPITIATION (God’s wrath against sin appeased by the death of His Son – God made Jesus SIN for us and appeased Himself by letting him absorb His wrath) through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God. To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be JUST, and the justifier of him which believes in Jesus – Rom 3:24-26), *we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1). Before Christ came, what was our state? Moses said, it was terrifying – so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake (Heb 12:21). By nature we were children of wrath, weren’t we? Eph 2:3 They the Old Testament saints were mere servants; but we are sons – Gal 4:7. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us (because Jesus endured the wrath of God for us and made he us the righteousness of God – 2 Cor 5:21). God is love (he is faithful and just/vindicates – 1 John 1:9); and he that dwells in love (forgiven, justified, walks in love) dwells in God, and God in him (1 John 4:16)—the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost (Romans 5:5). If we love one another, God dwells in us, and his love is perfected in us (1 John 4:12). Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he (Jesus) is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17) There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear (toward God) hath torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love (1 John 4:18)—simply put, one who is deprived of the love of God, which is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost (the gift of God), who alone imputes the love God and banish all fears about God. Having received the power to love God and man is the prime evidence of a regenerated soul and that the Spirit of Christ indwelling in them.
