William Carey proposed going to Tahiti, the Holy Spirit landed him in India.
David Livingstone proposed going to China, but the Holy Spirit led him to Africa.
A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps – Proverbs 16:9 – The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked – Jeremiah 17:9 – Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths – Proverbs 3:5-6 – O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps – Jeremiah 10:23.
We see then it is imperative that Pastors, and Missionaries, and every Christian worker, must follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance in the choice of a sphere of work – Acts 16:6-10.
The Greek word translated Field/Sphere in 2Cor 10:13 is METRON, which is a measure of activity that defines the limits of ones power and influence. And a sphere can be enlarged if – 2Cor 10:13-15
We must always be aware of the fact that we have stewardship of the field, and not ownership! And it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful – 1 Corinthians 4:2/Titus 1:7/1Pet 4:10/Luke 16.
Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away – 1 Peter 5:2-4.
